What to expect
Introductory divers will begin their first underwater adventure at a site designed for comfort and ease. Here, you can explore in controlled conditions while enjoying the unique “fish cinema” bommie—an area where divers can stand, hold onto the underwater rail, and watch the reef come alive as if on a big screen. Surrounding the site are colourful reef fish, giant clams, and even turtles, all thriving in this sheltered environment. With an average depth of just 5 metres and protection from prevailing weather, it’s the ideal setting for a safe and memorable first dive.

What to expect
This introductory dive site is the perfect place to “find Nemo.” Home to clownfish and their anemones, it also teems with vibrant marine life, from exotic reef fish to graceful turtles and even reef sharks. Guided by an instructor, divers will be led through the site as the wonders of the reef are revealed. Well sheltered from prevailing weather conditions, it offers a safe and memorable first dive experience.

What to expect
Certified divers visiting Kings Cross can immerse themselves in a dynamic underwater landscape defined by towering pinnacles and vibrant coral growth. The site features fascinating swim-throughs carved between the pinnacles, adding a sense of adventure to the dive. In the sandy gutters, divers are often rewarded with sightings of abundant reef life, including blacktip reef sharks and majestic bull rays resting along the seabed.

What to expect
Divers will drift along the outer edge of Green Island Reef, exploring a variety of environments including pinnacles, sand gutters, and coral bommies. This site is renowned for encounters with large bull rays and reef sharks resting in the gutters, while the pinnacles and bommies attract schools of vibrant reef fish and other marine life. Offering the chance to cover a wide expanse of the reef’s edge, this dive provides excellent opportunities to experience the rich biodiversity that makes Green Island so unique.

What to expect
As the name suggests, this is a true drift dive. Divers enter the water from a mooring, and once clear, Our dive vessel will release and follow along as the group drifts beside the rocky reef wall. The dive concludes at a corresponding mooring point. With deeper sections reaching up to 21m, the site offers variety for different certification levels. In shallower areas, divers can explore coral bommies rich with both soft and hard corals, alongside a diverse array of marine life. Open Water divers are limited to 18m, with a recommended maximum depth of 15m to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

DIVING CONDITIONS:

  • By law, the minimum age to dive is 12 years. Anyone under 18 years will need a parent or guardians permission.
  • All Scuba Diving is subject to successful completion of an on-board medical questionnaire. Please answer the following questions on your past and present status with a YES or NO. If you are not sure, answer YES. If you answer yes to anything you will need to see a doctor to get a clearance to dive. The clearance must be in English with the clinics letterhead phone, doctors note and signature. The questionnaire can be downloaded here.
  • Passengers should not go to altitude (fly) within 12 hours of completing a single dive or 24 hours when doing multiple dives. WHSQ is the regulator and we must comply, even though the PADI guidelines suggest 18 hours for multiple dives.
  • Before embarking on your scuba diving adventure in Queensland, please note that there are specific medical requirements unique to our region for certain medical conditions (i.e. asthma, epilepsy, high blood pressure or certain medications) these may exclude individuals from diving.  For comprehensive guidance on Queensland’s diving code of conduct, we recommend visiting the Work Safe website.
